Remedial Massage
As we slowly lose our battle against gravity, changes in our posture result in the body’s inability to heal a problem. Add to that the chemical imbalance stress causes in our bodies, it is no wonder we go home tried and aching after doing nothing all day. Remedial massage works wonders in these instances.
While sports massage has taken the headlines in recent years, remedial massage has been in the background whether you play sports or not. Stuck in fixed positions for hours on end takes it toll. RSI, lower back pain, sore neck and shoulders have become accepted states of “living”. Remedial massage coupled with an understanding of what caused the problem in the first place enables us to resolve as well as relieve symptoms of daily living.
My Aim is to:
- Treat the Problem areas
- Supply with solutions on how to change your ailment-causing problems
- Work within your pain tolerance
Frozen Shoulder
What Is Frozen Shoulder?
Frozen Shoulder or Adhesive Capsulitis, is a common cause of shoulder pain.
The ligaments in the shoulder joint become inflamed and create adhesions. The ligaments become swollen and stiff, causing a limited range of movement. It usually affects only one shoulder, but in some cases it can affect both.
Frozen shoulder can be misdiagnosed as a shoulder arthritis or rotator cuff injury. Frozen shoulder usually targets people between 35 and 60 years of age. Women more often suffering this condition than men.
Three Stages of Frozen Shoulder are:
- Painful stage - the shoulder develops stiffness and then becomes quite painful during the movements. Movements become limited. Pain often becomes worse at night.
- Frozen/adhesive stage - Stiffness increases, severely limiting ability to move. Pain usually does not change much at this stage
- Thawing stage - Range of movement in the frozen shoulder gradually improves. The pain starts to reduce, but occasionally recur
How is it Treated?
The Niel-Asher Technique™
The technique uses a specific and unique sequence of manipulations and pressure points to the shoulder joints and soft-tissues. In essence, these can be thought of as ‘inputs’ into the nervous system.
The technique has been in use since 1997 and has been adopted and approved by Doctors, Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, and Chiropractors in the UK, Europe, and the United States.
NAT works with the body, listening to the body’s wisdom – not by forcing the arm into the restricted ranges but by applying gentle stimulation to muscles whilst they are resting.
Taping and Strapping
Taping and strapping have now become common place in many sports. We regularly use taping as an adjunct to other treatments to assist in your recovery or rehabilitation.
We use traditional and Kinesiology tape (the colourful tape seen on many high level sports people today).
At Tinne Natural Health we also offer an taping and strapping service where clients can be tapped to aid recovery from an injury for a fee of between £3-£10 per area to be taped depending on the complexity and length of time the strapping required takes.
What is the tape used for?
- Muscular injury
- Help improve performance reducing muscle fatigue
- Achilles tendinitis
- Plantar fasciitis
- Jumpers knee (PFS)
- ACL/MCL issues
- Rotator cuff
- Groin and hamstring pulls
- Lower back issues

Oncology Massage
I am now able to offer a fully certified and insured massage to people touched by cancer. Offering a combination of different styles and techniques specifically adapted for the individuals of all ages and types of cancer.
“You have cancer” Are life changing words.
Although most family and friends will offer their support to someone who has been diagnosed with cancer it is often that unintentionally they may distance themselves physically with the fear of hurting the person who has cancer. They can shy away thinking that they can hurt the person if they were to hug them during their cancer treatment.
This small change is often not noticed by family and friends but is noticed by the person touched by cancer.
People who have cancer miss the power of touch. Massage therapy is one of the most relaxing forms of touch available and has many health benefits to the person receiving the treatment.
Many massage schools teach that massaging a person diagnosed with cancer will spread the cancer throughout the body.
This is an urban myth Ask yourself the following questions:
Ask yourself the following questions:
- Has your specialist advised you not the exercise or walk?
- Has your specialist advised you not to take a relaxing bath?
- Has your specialist advised you not to play with your siblings?
Well a massage will stimulate the same systems in the body as walking, taking a bath or playing with children.

Lava Shells® Massage
By combining a blend of food-grade minerals with water, our unique system creates a consistent, reliable, and powerful heat, without electricity.
These simple, all natural ingredients create no harmful byproducts and are environmentally friendly. When you invest in this revolutionary technology, you’re guaranteed a safe, dependable source of heated therapy that only Shared Beauty Secrets can provide.
Lava shell is a 100% natural tiger clam shell. It is sourced in the Philippines and is collected from a food waste product. This not only provides food but also jobs for the local industry on the island. The locals prepare the shell for use in massage by sand polishing them in to a smooth tool and glueing them back together and cutting a small hole to place the sachet inside
The Benefits of Heat
There are several benefits to heated treatments including: an increase in extension of soft tissues; removal of toxins from cells; enhanced blood flow; increased function of tissue cells; relaxation of sore, stiff muscles; and relief of painful arthritic joints.
For the ultimate, calming deep tissue massage, the Lava Shells treatment is the soothing solution.
As Holly glides the marine polished sea shells smoothly over the body, you will instantly fall into a state of utter relaxation and calm.
During the massage, the shells are worked over the palms, arms, neck and shoulder area, with the focus of the massage surrounding pressure points.
Deep tissue work on these tension areas such as the feet, back and shoulders, ease away all muscle tension, knots and stress points, unblocking an energy flow and releasing a sense of balance to the entire body and mind.
